Review: Improper Relations

3 Stars

I don't particularly love historical smut. But I liked the premise of this story and decided to give it a shot.

Improper Relations is a novella length story. Novellas work for me in erotica because the length lends itself to telling a good, not too involved story that focuses on the main characters and well, the sex of course.

This book is about Hannah and Leo. To be honest, I was drawn to the name Leo. I've always loved the name ever since Harry Connick Jr. played one on Will and Grace.

Hanna is a widowed family member who has been taken in as a companion for the matriarch. Leo is the scandalous bachelor son who seems to have nothing better to do than do dirty thinks with the female members of the staff. And that's where this story begins.

Hannah totally watches Leo banging a maid in the library. Instead of being appalled, she's totally turned on and enjoys the show. Leo calls her out, of course. But not until after he's finished getting off. He then tells her that he can make her feel the same way.

Things I enjoyed about this book:

I love secret sex. And I generally love any story that involves it. And honestly, the smut in this was good. Nothing was ever too drawn out and the story read quickly.

What didn't work for me as much:
The idea that a once-married woman had never held a cock in her hand or even masturbated. (However, it's historical, so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt.) I also didn't love the repeated use of the word "cunny" for female genetalia. For me, that was a huge turn off.

Overall worth the read if you like historical erotica.
